Identity of Trinity
The gospel of Jesus Christ is all about life change. 2 Corinthians 5:17 NLT says, “This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” At Trinity, we desire to create an atmosphere where real life change not only happens, but is celebrated. The church Jesus envisioned was not simply a spiritual social gathering. The church Jesus died for is all about lives being radically changed by the power and presence of God. To that end, every aspect of the ministry of Trinity Harvest Church must be focused on changing lives.
Culture is defined as… the sum of attitudes, customs, and beliefs that distinguishes one group of people from another. Culture is transmitted, through language, material objects, ritual, institutions, and art, from one generation to the next.
The culture of Eastern Kentucky, while rich in hospitality, creativity, and entrepreneurship, has also known a culture of addiction, poverty and apathy. The culture of our region not only needs to be changed, but shaped. God has not called us to retreat from our culture or criticize our culture, but shape it to reflect the culture of God’s Kingdom. Matthew 5:13 Jesus said that we, the church, are the salt of the earth. Part of the meaning of that is He strategically sprinkles us in our community to bring about change.
We believe God is raising up a people in the mountains to attack the strongholds of this culture and reshape them to reflect the kingdom of God. Jesus told us in Matthew 6:10 that our focus must be, “Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” As we stand side by side in the power of the Holy Spirit conquering these strongholds, we can pass to the next generation a brand new culture. A Kingdom Culture. One of freedom instead of addiction. Abundance in place of poverty. Excellence instead of apathy. At Trinity, that is our big picture vision.
Changing Lives is the immediate goal. Shaping Culture is the ultimate goal. A life can be changed in a moment. Shaping culture requires dedication, faithfulness, teamwork, and the power of God. We will shape the culture of our region to reflect the culture of God’s Kingdom through one changed life at a time
